Playa Flamenca: Cala Mosca and Estaca
- Driving time
- About 10 minutes by car
- Area
- Orihuela Costa
- Beach
Playa Flamenca is a coastal area of Orihuela Costa with two small sandy bays, Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca, and they are about a 10 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
There is not really a beach simply called Playa Flamenca: you want Cala Mosca or Cala Estaca. Both are short, wide sandy bays in a half circle of rocks, which protect them from waves and currents. On the headland between them are places to eat and drink.
Cala Mosca, at 108 metres, is Orihuela's shortest beach, but it averages 63 metres wide. In high season, from mid-June to mid-September, there are a beach bar, foot showers and sunbed hire. A local guide also calls it a dog beach, so check that before bringing your dog.
Cala Estaca is on the 2026 Blue Flag list, after losing the flag in 2024 over drainage problems. Here you will find a ramp, wooden walkways and, in summer, an amphibious chair and adapted toilet. Two play areas are at the northern end, so it suits children well.
Our tip: with children
Choose Cala Estaca: play areas, lifeguards and a drink at the bar. Do expect crowds in summer.
Parking
Cala Estaca has plenty of parking bays by the bars and shops, but summer is tight. Cala Mosca has little room right by the sand.
