Cabo Roig is a rocky headland on the Orihuela Costa with an old tower, two bays and a coast path. It is about a 15 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
The best of Cabo Roig is done on foot. Between Cala Capitán and La Caleta a 2.5 kilometre path runs along cliffs and beaches, with five viewpoints on the way. It received the Sendero Azul (Blue Trail) award in 2024, and being so short it fits easily into a morning before a swim.
Along the way you see the Torre de Cabo Roig. It was built in the 16th century as a defence against pirates and is now protected heritage. At the foot of the headland lies a small marina, which is also where the water sports begin.
Both bays are sandy. La Caleta is better sheltered from wind and waves, while Cala Capitán sits at the end of the path. The cliff above the marina has many restaurants serving fish and paella, and along the N-332 runs the well-known strip of bars, shops and nightlife.

On Thursday morning there is a market for Cabo Roig and Campoamor, on Calle Fuego in the Aguamarina district.
Good shoes
The path follows cliffs and viewpoints. Flip-flops are fine for the beach, but take something sturdier for this stretch.
In the evening
For food with a view, choose the cliff above the marina. For bustle and music, head to the strip along the N-332.
