Orihuela Costa is the beach coast south of Torrevieja, with bays, cliffs and the Zenia Boulevard shopping centre. Playa La Zenia is about a 10 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
Sandy beaches and small bays take turns along more than fifteen kilometres of coast here, from Punta Prima to Campoamor and Mil Palmeras in the south. Each spot has its own feel, so you rarely need to search long for a stretch of sand that suits your day.
Playa La Zenia is our favourite if you like some life around you: wide and gently sloping, with lifeguards, sunbeds, a foot shower and a beach bar. Right next to it is Cala Cerrada, a smaller bay better sheltered from the wind. Hire and lifeguards are only there in high season.
Shopping means Zenia Boulevard, the largest open-air shopping centre in the province of Alicante, with over 150 shops, free parking and plenty of shaded terraces. In high season the square has live music and entertainment for children.
Saturday market
Every Saturday morning the street market by Zenia Boulevard fills one long street with stalls on Calle Nicolás de Bussi.
Our tip for kebab
Kebab Express, on the upper floor of Zenia Boulevard.
Walking
Between Cala Capitán and La Caleta at Cabo Roig runs a 2.5 kilometre coast path with five viewpoints.
With children
Our guest book lists the Orihuela Costa go-kart track, good for an afternoon when it is not a beach day.
