- Driving time
- About 10 minutes by car
- Area
- Orihuela Costa
- Beach
Cala Cerrada is a small, sheltered bay with fine white sand in La Zenia, Orihuela Costa, and it is about a 10 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
This is La Zenia's smaller sister: 167 metres long and well protected from the wind, when the open coast may already be quite breezy. The sand is white and fine, and the water is usually calm. That makes it a pleasant place for a quiet swim and for paddling with children. It fills up as soon as summer begins, though, and in such a small bay you end up close together.
The facilities are generous for such a small beach: lifeguards with a watchtower in summer, a first aid post just behind the sand, foot showers, beach bars and restaurants, sunbed and parasol hire and public toilets. The beach also appears on the Blue Flag lists for 2026.
Parking is fine for most of the year, but gets tight in summer. Expect to hunt in the surrounding streets then. There is also a parking space for people with disabilities.
Our tip: when it is windy
If the wind is up on La Zenia, walk over here. This bay is more sheltered.
Surfing?
Local guides report that this is one of the spots where surfing is allowed when the red flag is up and swimming is banned. Ask the lifeguards.
For small children
The water is calm, but come early, as this short beach fills quickly.
