Playa La Zenia is a wide sandy beach in Orihuela Costa that slopes gently into the sea, and it is about a 10 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
A beach week here often starts on this one. Officially it is called Cala del Bosque, but most people simply say La Zenia. It has fine sand, about 258 metres long and over 100 metres deep: a bay that is wide for its length. The atmosphere is lively, certainly in summer.
In high season there are lifeguards, sunbed and parasol hire, water sports rental and a beach bar. There are also toilets and foot showers. Because the sea floor slopes gently, children can paddle well here. Do watch the flag, as things differ when there are waves.
Parking is on an unattended lot of about 50 to 100 spaces, or in the streets behind. That is plenty outside summer, but in July and August arriving early is the best tip we can give you.
Our tip: Cala Cerrada next door
Right next to it is a smaller bay that is more sheltered from the wind. If it is breezy on La Zenia, walk a little further.
Good to know
Hire, lifeguards and water sports are only there in high season.
Add some shopping
Zenia Boulevard is in the same area, useful when the beach weather dips.
