Punta Prima is a quiet coastal area on the border of Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa, with a sandy beach between cliffs and palm trees. It is about a 15 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
This is the place for a beach afternoon in a quiet district. The sandy beach lies between low cliffs and palm trees, among mostly homes and tree-lined avenues. The promenade along the beach is popular for an evening stroll, and besides Playa de Punta Prima there are the small Cala Piteras and Playa Rocío del Mar.
The location is unusual: the municipal border between Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja runs right through it. From the beach you can walk towards Torrevieja along a largely undeveloped stretch of coast and past a palm plantation.
There is little in the district itself. Shops, bars and restaurants are mainly along the N-332 coast road, a short walk away. Centro Comercial Punta Marina has a Consum supermarket, so this is a handy stop for terrace supplies. Below are the two places we recommend ourselves, both in Punta Prima.
Our tip: SPK Carne Piedra
Grill and steakhouse where meat is cooked at your table on a hot volcanic stone. Worth booking ahead.
Our tip: SoleLuna
Italian-style restaurant and cocktail bar with pizzas, pastas and burgers, on Calle Escorpiones 2B.
Markets nearby
Punta Prima has no weekly market of its own on the lists we saw. The nearest are Torrevieja on Friday and La Zenia on Saturday.
