Las Colinas Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole championship course (par 71) by Cabell B. Robinson in Orihuela. It is about a 25 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
You drive into a 330 hectare valley facing the sea, with more than 200,000 square metres of natural land. American designer Cabell B. Robinson laid the course out strategically: wide fairways and gentle slopes, with lakes and bunkers exactly where you do not want them.
The club describes the course as challenging and enjoyable for all levels, and reports that it has been named best course in Spain five times. If you want one round on your trip to be the special one, this is a logical choice.
Short game
The 5,000 square metre short game area was designed by Miguel Ángel Jiménez. The driving range uses Toptracer, which gives instant feedback on every shot. There is also an academy.
Eating
There are several restaurants on site, including il Palco, unik and umawa, plus the clubhouse. See lascolinasgolf.com for what is open.
Our tip
Stay on the coast for the evening: Cabo Roig has 'the strip', and in Punta Prima SPK Carne Piedra serves meat at your table on a hot volcanic stone. Worth booking.
