Playa Cabo Roig, officially La Caleta, is a 387 metre bay in Orihuela Costa below the Cabo Roig headland, and it is about a 15 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
The name La Caleta means little to most people, but everyone knows Cabo Roig. This beach is on the south side of the headland, 387 metres long, with over 16,000 square metres of space, and on the 2026 Blue Flag list. The region describes it as a natural beach.
You will not lack facilities: public toilets, lifeguards in summer, foot showers, a beach bar, a sports area, parasols and sun loungers. It is also accessible, with a shaded area and a parking space for people with disabilities. For regular parking you have to look in the neighbourhood, which can take a while in summer.
The headland makes it extra interesting. At the point stands the Torre de Cabo Roig, an old watchtower and listed heritage, with restaurants nearby. If you fancy a meal or drink afterwards, it is a short walk.
Our tip: the strip
Cabo Roig is known for 'the strip', the street of restaurants and bars a little inland. It is an easy place to eat after a beach day.
With children
With lifeguards in summer and a beach bar close by, this is easy with children. Always check the flag when you arrive.
Walk the round
The promenade carries on along the coast towards Playa Flamenca and Campoamor.
