Playa Mil Palmeras is a wide sandy beach with calm, gently sloping water in Pilar de la Horadada, and it is about a 15 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
For families this is one of the nicest beaches. The fine golden sand and clear water shelve gently, and the sea is usually calm, so young children can paddle at their own height for a long way. The region also calls it one of the most accessible beaches for visitors who are unsteady on their feet, with walkways and a separate access.
You will find all you need for a beach day: sunbed and parasol hire, beach bars and restaurants, toilets, foot showers, a play area, sports games and water sports such as pedal boats, windsurfing and sailing. Lifeguards and hire are there in high season. Mil Palmeras is on the 2026 Blue Flag list.
A large car park is nearby, where you park for free. Mil Palmeras belongs partly to Pilar de la Horadada and partly to Orihuela. This page means the Pilar part. The beach is 535 metres long according to spain.info, longer according to others.
Our tip: Heaven pizzeria-ristobar
Delicious pizzas and pastas in a cosy street close to the beach, with sea views from the terrace.
By bus
A bus stops here and there is a taxi rank, but most families come by car. The car park fills fast in July and August.
In high season
Hire and lifeguards are only there in that period, so it is much quieter outside summer.
