Playa Mil Palmeras: a family beach
- Driving time
- About 15 minutes by car
- Area
- Vega Baja / Pilar de la Horadada
- Town
Mil Palmeras is a coastal area in the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada with a wide sandy beach and calm, gently shelving water. It is about a 15 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
Fine golden sand and clear water, wide and lively: this is one of our favourite beaches for families, because the sea is calm and gets deeper very gradually. The beach is over 500 metres long and holds a Blue Flag.
There is sunbed and parasol hire, a beach bar, water sports, toilets, foot showers and lifeguards, plus a large free car park. Hire and lifeguards are there in high season. Close to the beach is a pedestrian street with many restaurants, so you do not need the car again for dinner.
For something other than sand: along this stretch of coast are the remains of a Roman quarry from the first and second centuries BC. There is also a guided history walk of Pilar de la Horadada, through Mil Palmeras and Torre de la Horadada. Ask the tourist office for dates.
Our tip: Heaven pizzeria-ristobar
Delicious pizzas and pastas in a cosy street by the beach. The terrace looks out over the sea.
Summer market
In July and August there is a Tuesday evening market on Avenida de Holanda, and on summer evenings craft stalls line the promenade.
