La Casa de las Conchas is a house in Rojales covered from top to bottom in shells, and it is about a 20 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
Manuel Fulleda Alcaraz, born in 1933 in Callosa de Segura, bought this house in 1974. When he retired around 1993, he began gathering shells on beaches such as Guardamar and La Manga, and sticking them on. More than twenty years later, almost nothing had escaped: the façade, balustrades, roofs, terraces, stairs and part of the interior.
Illness forced him to stop in 2013. His son José Manuel opened the house to visitors in August 2023, and the income goes towards its upkeep. Nobody knows exactly how many shells there are: estimates run from 700,000 to a million. It is the kind of place that makes you smile, and an hour or less is plenty.
Our tip: hear the story

Where exactly
The house is on Calle Rodeo, in the same neighbourhood as the Cuevas del Rodeo, so walk over there too.
