Rojales is a village on the Segura with cave houses and a shell house, and Ciudad Quesada is the large residential area next to it around La Marquesa golf. It is about a 20 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
In the old village, everything revolves around the river. A weir, a water wheel, irrigation channels and a stone bridge from the 16th to 18th centuries form a water system you can see right in the centre. There are also the restored windmill, the Aljibes de Gasparito cisterns and the archaeology and palaeontology museum with Miocene fossils. The Museo de la Huerta in the surrounding area tells the story of local farming.
The Cuevas del Rodeo are homes carved into the rock from the 18th to the 20th century, now an artists' quarter with workshops and exhibitions. They are almost next door to La Casa de las Conchas, which gives you a surprising outing that does not take long.
Ciudad Quesada is another world altogether. It grew from 1972, when businessman Justo Quesada bought land here, into a large residential area around the golf course that has been called La Marquesa since 1994. It is mainly a place to live, and one for golfers.
