The Museo del Mar y de la Sal is a small ethnological museum in the centre of Torrevieja about the sea and salt, and it is about a 10 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.

Salt and sea made Torrevieja what it is, and this museum shows how. Since 1995 it has displayed everyday objects from the lives of fishermen, sailors and salt workers, finds from the coastal area and models of the town through the centuries. It is not a large museum, nor one built to entertain you with screens. The handcraft is what makes it enjoyable.

The best-known piece is the model and diorama of the Pascual Flores, a sailing ship the town is still proud of.

The museum is at Calle Patricio Pérez 10, near the centre.

Our tip: pair it with the lakes

Visit the museum first, then take the little train to the salt mountains. You will better understand what you are looking at.

Before you go

Phone or email for current opening times: 966 704 643 or museo@torrevieja.eu. According to council information, it closes a couple of days a week.
