Parque de las Naciones is a large, free town park in Torrevieja with a lake shaped like Europe, and it is about a 10 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
Children who are bored of the pool will be happy here for a while. The council calls it one of the town's green lungs, and a favourite with families. The park covers over 35,000 square metres and is laid out like a map of Europe, with an artificial lake you can walk around on the paths.
The main draw is the play area, with a well-known dragon slide they will spot from the path. Otherwise it is a nice place to stroll: gardens, footpaths and plenty of birds on and around the water. Local guides also report terrapins in the lake, so get the children looking. Entry is free, and the entrance is easy to find on Ronda César Cánovas Girada.
Our tip: with children
Pair an hour in this park with an ice cream on the boulevard. It is a good plan for a day when the beach can wait.
Best time
There is some shade, but in summer the play area is most pleasant in the morning or later in the afternoon.
