- Beach
Playa de la Mata is Torrevieja's longest beach at about 2.4 kilometres, with fine sand and low dunes, and it is about a 15 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
You will not find more space around here. This beach is about 2,365 metres long and 47 metres wide, with fine sand that slopes gently. It is divided into north and south, and the region mentions a stretch of dunes and plants where endangered species have been brought back. That is why you reach the sand on wooden walkways.
A beach day lacks nothing: toilets, foot showers, lifeguards, beach bars, sunbed hire, children's play areas and sports games, with hotels and restaurants in the area behind. La Mata South is on the 2026 Blue Flag lists. It suits children well, with space and a soft slope. The south part is exposed to the wind, though.
La Mata North has an adapted area for people with disabilities, with assisted bathing from 15 June to 15 September by appointment on 670 563 022. La Mata South does not have this, because of the wind. Parking is listed, but without details.
Our tip: add the market
On Wednesdays there is a market on Avenida de Francia in La Mata. Market first, beach afterwards.
A long walk
Thanks to its length, this is one of the best beaches for a walk in the morning or late in the day.
Add the tower
The Torre del Moro on Cabo Cervera is close to this beach at its southern end.
