La Manga Club near Los Belones in Cartagena is a resort with three 18-hole courses: South, North and West. It is about a 55 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
Here you choose by the day what suits you. The South Course (par 73) is the big one: designed by Robert Dean Putman, remodelled in 2005 by Arnold Palmer, with palms and water in the middle of the valley, and host to international tournaments. The North Course (par 71) is, according to the resort, technically the most accessible, shorter and rolling, with palms, lakes and ravines. The greens have plenty of slope, so a good touch counts.
The West Course (par 72) by Dave Thomas is the most demanding, running through dense pine forest at the foot of the Calblanque nature park, and the resort says it asks for your best on every shot. Work out your own order: North to settle in, South as the main course and West if you still dare. Good for a golf day with a wide spread of abilities.
Practice

Our tip
Cartagena is the natural pairing: the Roman theatre, the Palacio Consistorial town hall by the harbour and the Batería de Castillitos, a turreted fort on the coast.
