Altaona Golf is an 18-hole course by Stirling & Martin Golf Architects in Baños y Mendigo near Murcia. It is about a 40 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.
The course winds through a residential resort, with wide corridors in an arid climate. The land rolls gently and vegetation is sparse, and that calm topography makes it easy to walk, according to the club. Handy if you do not always want to sit in a buggy.
The layout is strategic and fun: challenging but not torturous, as the club puts it. Accurate players are rewarded for avoiding the rough and trees, lakes come into play and sand bunkers shape the fairways and greens. The course is sown with paspalum, which withstands heat and salt water. A good pick if you prefer a playful round to a heavy one.
