Town

Algorfa is a farming village among the citrus trees of the Vega Baja, known for the Sunday El Zoco market and La Finca golf course. It is about a 20 minute drive from Lago Rosa Apartment.

Leave the seafront behind for a moment, because this is where you see the interior. The village has low houses and the feel of a place that lives from farming, with citrus fields all around. For an outing of a few hours, ideally on a Sunday, that is just right.

About a kilometre outside the centre stands the Ermita del Marqués de Algorfa, a neoclassical chapel from the start of the last century. Beside it are a small palace and an old olive mill, all owned by the town and together forming a monumental group.

Walkers with a full day to spare can take on the Ruta de la Caldera del Gigante, about 17 kilometres through the Vega Baja past the Hoyo Serrano and the Barranco de Calderón, with striking rock formations. Bring water, because this is not a walk past terraces.

Our tip: El Zoco Market

Every Sunday morning, with several restaurants and bars alongside the stalls. The site is by the AP-7, between Algorfa and Quesada.

Wednesday market

On Wednesday morning there is also the village market on Calle Fernando de Rojas.

Golf

La Finca is an 18-hole course with many lakes, where herons and ducks have made their home. Book tee times directly with the club.
