The Peñón de Ifach is a 332 metre rock rising out of the sea at Calp, now a nature park, and it is about 1 hour 45 minutes by car from Lago Rosa Apartment.

You will recognise the outline from far along the coast. Now that it is a nature park, access to the summit is limited: only a set number of people may climb each day, so you book in advance. Without a reservation you will not get through the tunnel.

The Ruta de la Cima is a walk of about 4.6 kilometres, rated intermediate by the region. On the way up you pass through a tunnel in the rock. Then the hardest stretch begins, with ropes on the rock face to help you. Sturdy shoes are not optional. Access may be closed in bad weather.

Start at the visitor centre in Calp, on Calle Isla de Formentera. There you can also see which plants and animals you may meet along the way.

Our tip: book in good time

It fills up quickly, especially during holidays. Contact the park office or the Tourist Info in Calp if you are unsure. You can call 965 693 300 or email ifac_cma@gva.es.

With children

According to several travel guides, minors may go as far as the tunnel but not to the summit. Check this before arranging anything.

Combine it

Calp has beaches on both sides of the rock, so you can cool off after the descent.
