Les Fonts de l'Algar is a nature area with waterfalls and swimming pools near Callosa d'en Sarrià, which is about 1 hour 40 minutes by car from Lago Rosa Apartment.
Allow about 45 minutes for the walk if you never stop, though of course you will. The path climbs beside the river, past springs and waterfalls, with seven places where you may swim. On the map they are called 'Toll'. The water stays at around 18 degrees all year, so a little courage helps.
There are many steps and slopes, so leave the pushchair behind. A lifeguard is on duty at Easter and in summer; at other times you swim at your own risk. Food is only allowed in the picnic area, and alcohol and glass are not permitted. The park is open all year, and your ticket is for a time slot.
Our tip: drive on up
Quite early on, people will wave you in to park with them. Just keep driving up. You pay a little more there, but you do not have to walk so far up the hill.
Free parking
You can park free at the Tourist Info office, about 700 metres from the main entrance.
Tickets and shoes
In high season buy ahead at lasfuentesdelalgar.com, as on-site sales stop when it is full. Wear flat shoes and bring water shoes for the river.
With a dog
Dogs are welcome from 16 September to 14 June, on a lead and out of the water.
